One of our most important and popular courses is our memory training course. Our memories are a vital component of our mental make-up. Without a functioning memory we would not be able to operate effectively in the world at all. However, our memories can be capricious and unreliable: sometimes they can work very well but other times they can let us down just when we need them most. Yet throughout history there have been tales of people who could perform prodigious feats of memory using a variety of mental techniques, techniques which anyone can use and which don't require you to be a genius. These techniques are relatively easy to learn and can be applied in most situations where it is important to remember reliably. Modern research has confirmed the effectiveness of these techniques and neuroscience has begun to reveal what is happening in the brain, giving us further insights into the difference between a well-trained and a poorly-trained memory. By learning how to use your memory more effectively you can immunise yourself against the deterioration of memory associated with ageing. Our courses aim to provide you with ways of remembering different kinds of information such as speeches, presentations, lists of facts, physical procedures, vocabulary, appointments, deadlines, to-do lists, scientific formulae, as well as names and faces. Some people are of the view that having a well-trained memory is not necessary in an age where so much information is immediately available online at the click of a mouse. We disagree: our memories work by associating and linking different ideas to each other. This associativity, as well as being crucial to memory, is also the basis of creative thinking. Creativity relies on making new associations and connections between ideas that have not been made before. Since careers in the future are likely to be less concerned with repetitive tasks that can be done by computers and more about being innovative and creative, having a good memory will become more, not less, important. Our Master Your Memory Online Course is a self-study digital course presented in audio and written format that you can do in your own time and at your own pace. Its 11 modules build up to a complete course designed to help you take control of your memory. It includes exercises to develop your memory skills, quizzes at the end of each module to ensure that you have understood everything, and the opportunity to raise questions with us as you progress through the course.
