Online Seminars

For those who aren't able to make it to our seminars we run online seminars as well. Provided you have access to a computer and a decent internet connection you can now attend our seminars no matter where in the world you are. We conduct our seminars via Skype to ensure that anyone who wants to is able to attend without requiring any detailed computing knowledge.

This seminar will introduce you to a variety of strategies to help you take greater control of your memory and to recall a much greater proportion of what you want. You will learn what your memory is capable of,  the major factors that affect it, how to use those factors for your own benefit and a number of approaches to remembering large amounts of information. By the end of the seminar you will be familiar with the techniques used by people with highly trained memories and know how to use those techniques for your own specific ends.

Course materials are included as well as a free copy of our e-book Master Your Memory.

The seminar will include: -

•    An introduction to your memory

•    The different tasks we use our memories for and what is possible with a trained memory

•    Learning how and why the brain remembers some things and forgets others

•    Techniques for overcoming the limitations of short-term memory

•    How focused attention is vital to memory and how to develop it

•    The importance of association to memory

•    Developing your visual memory

•    Using your whole brain

•    Mnemonics and memory systems

•    The importance of repetition and structured rehearsal for combating forgetting

Introduction to Mind Maps Online Seminar 9 June 2017 ​8pm (UK time)

This  seminar will introduce you to mind maps, show you what they are, why they work and how to use them in a number of different areas such as for note taking, as a memory aid, for generating new ideas and creativity, and for preparing written work and presentations. During the seminar you will complete at least three mind maps of increasing complexity on different subjects and on completion you will have all the information you need to use them yourself and a practice plan to help you establish their use as an ongoing habit. 

Course materials are included as well as a complimentary copy of our e-book Mind Maps.

The seminar will include: -

•    An introduction to the structure of the brain

•    How mind maps aim to mirror brain structure on paper

•    How mind maps can be more efficient than ‘traditional’ linear notes

•    Investigating the concept of association as the basis for creative mind maps

•    Using mind maps for presentations

•    Key words: how they focus note-taking on relevant issues

•    The hierarchical mind and how this is reflected in your mind maps

•    Using mind maps to explore memories

•    Introducing ‘right-brain’ skills such as colour and imagery into your mind maps

Intelligent Speed Reading Online Seminar 7 June 2017 ​8pm (UK time)

This seminar is designed to show you how to read large amounts of material in a way that is compatible with how your brain works and at speeds of up to one thousand words per minute (five times faster than average). It will go beyond mere ‘speed reading’ techniques and demonstrate an overall view of reading that will enable participants to approach any reading they do in the knowledge that they will be able to complete it quickly and effectively while getting all that they need to out of it. 

Course materials are included as well as a complimentary copy of our e-book Speed Reading.

The seminar will include: -

•    An overview of the various cognitive stages of reading

•    An outline of potential reading speeds, limitations, practicalities and pitfalls

•    An assessment of your current reading speeds -  setting a baseline

•    Analysing and controlling your eye movement while reading

•    Demonstrating eye movement during high speed reading

•    Techniques for reading at one thousand words per minute

•    Acclimatising the brain to read at high speeds

•    Understanding vocalisation, sub-vocalisation and visual reading

•    A detailed and structured practice regime

•    An introduction to the psychology of intelligent reading and note taking

•    Various approaches to mastering large amounts of material in short amounts of time, including an understanding of priming, information hierarchies and categories, redundancy of language, non-linear reading and the importance of motivation

•    The importance of being in and maintaining the correct state of mind for mental performance

Introduction to Analytical Thinking

8pm (UK time) on 26 May 2016. Seminar is conducted via Skype in English.

This workshop will introduce participants to the various elements of analytical and critical thinking. It does this from a practical perspective aiming to help people make decisions and arrive at conclusions accurately, ensuring that they take into account all necessary factors and avoid the kinds of errors that are commonly made. Includes a complimentary copy of our book Analytical Thinking

It will include the following: -

  • How we aren’t as good at thinking as we like to think we are
  • What is analytical thinking? Where is it appropriate and where not?
  • The elements of analytical thinking and the rules underpinning good analysis
  • Beliefs - how they form and how to ensure their accuracy
  • Meaning - how fine distinctions in meaning and understanding may lead to error
  • Fact based decisions - examining evidence and testing sources
  • Assessing other people’s opinions and views / testing your own
  • Cognitive biases - what are they, how they arise and strategies for overcoming them
  • Extraneous factors that can adversely affect our thinking and decision making
  • An overview of the formal logical structure of good (and bad) reasoning
  • Fallacies - an examination of some common fallacies in reasoning
  • Conclusions and decisions; ensuring we reach the right conclusion; assessing competing arguments and the potential unwelcome implications of our conclusions
