Morning
On completion of this course you will have learnt how to remember facts or skills in the most appropriate way; you will have an understanding of how your memory works - why it succeeds in certain situations and why it can let you down in others. You will know how to ensure new information is retained in long-term memory for as long as it is needed. You will have an understanding of basic brain structures and how to use this knowledge to your advantage.
You will have been introduced to various memory systems and had an opportunity to practise them. Building on what you have been shown, you will have an understanding of how these systems may be applied to specific situations that may be relevant to you.
You will also be introduced to various techniques to ensure that you can remember what you need to in situations of pressure and performance, how to combat forgetting and what steps to take if you do.
You will gain an understanding of the broader context by learning how factors such as sleep, stress and general health can impact upon mental performance as well as the steps you can take to ensure that these factors work in your favour. You will also be advised on ways of practising what you have learnt so that you can maximise and maintain your gains.
